Welcome to the house of Japanese architecture and design aesthetic.

To learn Japanese architecture, one has to know its history especially in the field of temples and shrines.  It is because resources were mainly made available to the design and construction of these buildings in the past, even though if you are in different religious belief.   Another category which represents a distinguished Japanese architecture style would be the construction of Minka (house of people).  These buildings were built by local people who were often the owner themselves with the help of local craftsmen for the major frameworks.   The distinguished characteristics are the regional styles that represents the occupations/activities  and the use of local resources.   If you tour around the country, you will see a lot of temples and shrines, small and large, almost everywhere.   These buildings represents the great architecture technique and design that are distinguishable to the Japanese culture.

In this virtual space, as you walk through the gate, I would like to convey my thoughts about the topic and would like to hear your opinions too.
